Sunseeker name comes back after 33-year absence!
Prestige is a formidable force in the lodge and park home market with its Homeseeker range but was also looking to branch out in holiday caravan and lodge sector. So in the summer of 2019 a new division was set up in Marfleet, Hull.
Sunseeker was the new name, well old name to be exact. Sunseeker made holiday caravans from 1971 in Suffolk. By the late 80’s, Sunseeker, who had been a successful park home manufacturer too, was to shut down.
So a name that has heritage behind it was ideal to come back into the market with more than 100 years’ experience in the industry.
Here we take a look at the Sunseeker Sensation lodge – a 40ft x 20ft two bedroomed twin unit, unveiled at the Cottingham Parks Lodge and Caravan Show last year.
The Sunseeker Sensation lodge comes with front French doors, full guttering and a galvanised chassis. It’s built to exceed the BS3632 residential standards so is equipped to be used all-year-round.
Those French doors and full height window really bring the outside in. The lounge area is open plan with free-standing chairs and a three-seater settee, which has a pull-out bed, and a cosy fireplace with electric wood burner fire.
There are several small tables here and a spot for the TV to be fixed to the wall. It’s all very pleasant and strikes a chord of luxury.
To the left of the lounge is a dining area, which also forms part of the fantastic kitchen area and is complete with four upholstered chairs.
The Sensation’s kitchen also sports a central storage area and worktop, plus breakfast bar. It’s very well equipped, including a high-level oven and microwave plus fridge – but the dishwasher and washing machine are extras.
Excellent storage and plenty of stone-effect worktops feature highly in the Sunseeker Sensation making this a very practical kitchen for cooking and entertaining.
Towards the back of the Sensation you’ll find the two bedrooms, but first up on your right is the family bathroom, which not only has a full-sized bath but a separate shower too. It’s well planned out, with a large hand basin and good storage beneath.
Moving on through to the master bedroom and you’ll find another bright and sumptuously upholstered room with large windows that almost go to the floor.
The Sensation’s master suite is large and spacious and has a modern décor, like the rest of this holiday caravan. There’s a small dressing table and wardrobe here, plus side dressers by the bed. The en-suite shower room is also well finished and very well designed with cabinet and cupboard storage.
The twin room is very spacious with good sized domestic twin beds and two side cabinets. Lighting, as in the rest of the lodge, is excellent and the twin room also has built-in double wardrobes with drawers beneath.
There’s plenty of mains sockets throughout the Sunseeker Sensation so nobody will be short of a powering up their devices and appliances.
Verdict: It’s great to see Sunseeker back again and believe it or not in 1980 the name was also on a range of tourers they built too.
So does the Sensation cut it? It certainly does! And for those wanting another bedroom the next model will be their best bet. Overall, the Sensation offers great build quality, and very nice and spacious interior with a luxury feel.
Plus points: Good sized bedrooms, build quality, separate dining and lounge area, wine cooler and USB points.
Minus points: Dishwasher not included in the kitchen and no real storage in the lounge area.
In a nutshell: A new old name to add to your lodge buying list. The Sensation is well designed and feels extremely comfortable in all areas.
