Swift’s entry-level holiday caravan range gets a refresh for 2020
With five layouts for 2020, the Ardennes line-up is aimed at providing an affordable holiday caravan, especially for first time buyers.
But keeping costs down doesn’t have to mean low quality as can be seen here.
The exterior of the Swift Ardennes comes with full guttering, double glazed windows throughout, LED lighting, plus that all-important fully galvanised chassis.
The walls are also bonded sandwich construction as used in the touring caravan manufacturing industry.
We take a look at the 35ft x 12ft two bedroomed that should prove to be very popular with buyers.
Stepping into the lounge via the optional French doors the Ardennes’ lounge is incredibly open and offers plenty of floor area.
The L-shaped settee adds to the sense of space and also doubles up as an occasional fold-out bed. There’s little in the way of furniture which means storage is confined to a few shelves.
For warmth, an electric fire is fitted, although the Swift Ardennes comes with central heating as standard. There’s a spot for the TV and sockets too, while ceiling lighting is limited with just two spotlights.
The dining area adjoins the kitchen and is made up of four white wooden, shaker style chairs and table with wood finished top.
The Ardennes’ kitchen is designed for family holidays and comes with oven, grill and four burner hob plus a built-in microwave too.
Keeping things cool is the full height integrated fridge freezer.
The laminate worktops and storage in the kitchen are excellent but again, main ceiling lighting isn’t over generous here.
As you walk through a small corridor, this takes you to the master bedroom and twin bedded room.
The twin room comes with a wardrobe, overhead shelves and cupboard, plus a central side dresser unit. For children there’s good storage and general space too.
The family bathroom is opposite, with decent thermostatic shower, hand basin and loo, plus a small towel rail radiator. It’s not over large but it’s still practical.
Enter the master bedroom and a double bed, complete with a Duvalay mattress, has side dressers and overhead shelving and cupboard fitted. There are also several sockets in here plus a small, full-door wardrobe, plus built in dressing table with large mirror and stool.
The bedroom also has its own toilet and hand basin – but no shower.
Verdict: Swift has produced an affordable and bright holiday caravan with simplistic but contemporary furniture. The Ardennes has lots of features as standard and this static caravan will appeal to many.
Plus points: Good sized bedrooms, spacious lounge, modern wood grain, great kitchen storage and decent spec.
Minus points: Not much storage in lounge area could do with a few more ceiling lights.
In a nutshell: The refreshed Swift Ardennes is a great value, family holiday caravan, which comes with a good spec and simple interior décor.
