From the outside, the Prestige Homeseeker Hampton looks, well, ordinary. It’s a rectangular lodge, clad in wood, smart but unremarkable. Until you step inside, you get no clue to this lodge’s awesome layout and styling. This is a really special holiday lodge.
As you enter, the shoes and coats practicalities are what you notice first; somewhere to sit to take off boots, plus seven coat hooks, in a recess.
Then you notice something that puts the Hampton on a par with modern house layouts: a toilet and washbasin, off the hallway.
And, hidden away in a cabinet in the hallway, is a washing machine; an excellent use of space and a great idea to accommodate it out of the kitchen.
As you begin to explore further from this practicality area, you immediately become aware that the Prestige Homeseeker Hampton is very much a wow-factor lodge. The layout is extraordinary, with a vast central lounge, packed with character, and bedrooms at each end.
The lounge has an entire wall of double opening window doors; a six-piece, concertina construction of glass and frames with, above it, more windows; this time, set into diagonal white bars.
Even with just the view of the Prestige Homeseeker car park that adjoins the company’s showground where we came to do this review, the wall of windows looks amazing.
It’s easy to imagine this lodge sited to take advantage of a magnificent countryside vista.
The lounge and dining area is a bright and delightful living space with a clever mix of styling that incorporates classic design, in the form of a log-burner stove set into a black marble and cream feature fireplace, pale oak geometric pattern flooring and stunning lighting in two areas.
Over the elegant oval dining table hangs a chrome candelabra-style light on a chunky chain.
And, above the breakfast bar that marks the edge of the lounge and the start of the kitchen, are three enormous glass lights, slightly industrial in style, again suspended on chunky chains.
The Hampton’s big change for 2021 is the kitchen. Matt dark blue units have been introduced, with impressive slim metal handles that incorporate an unusual mesh design.
The cabinets hide a fridge-freezer and dishwasher as well as giving the buyer good storage space in five lower cabinets and five upper cupboards plus three drawers. A fabulously large five-burner hob and a tower configuration of microwave, oven and grill take care of cooking arrangements.
Style mixes with practicality: the surface is finely mottled, marble-effect; the Venetian-style window blind has large louvres and the big enamel sink has a grooved drainer and a small central rinse section.
Both of the Hampton’s bedrooms have floor-to-ceiling opening windows. The twin room is gorgeously spacious and has a bathroom en-suite with over-bath shower plus a walk-in dressing room.
The master bedroom also has a walk-in dressing room and en-suite, this time with a shower.
There’s a touch of traditional furniture styling in the main bedroom of the Prestige Homeseeker Hampton, with sculptured legs and curved handles on the cream dressing table and bedside cabinets.
The mix of horizontally and vertically aligned white panelling that is a feature throughout the Hampton is teamed, in the main bedroom, with a very pale grey wood-effect feature wall.
Mirrors are a strong element of this bedroom’s styling. There are two curved-top, cream-framed mirrors, one over the dressing table and a full-length mirror at the entrance to the walk-in wardrobe-dressing area.
These, plus a white Georgian-style framed mirror on the opposite wall to the dressing table, all combine to enhance the bright, airy, spacious feel of this luxurious bedroom arrangement.
As with all areas of the Hampton, this bedroom has a delightful, distinctive character.
Verdict: There are many brilliant style elements in the Prestige Homeseeker Hampton lodge, bringing together touches of industrial chic, cottage cosiness, traditional furniture shapes and finishes and a kitchen that’s 100% ultra-modern. The combination works superbly.
The most important thing about the Hampton is its layout, though, with bedrooms at each end and a wonderfully spacious area for lounging, dining and cooking. We especially like the position of the breakfast bar, forming a demarcation between the kitchen and the lounge. The Hampton is full of surprises. We love it!
Plus points: Bedrooms at each end, fabulous kitchen styling, and lighting designs to dream of.
Minus points: The exterior appearance belies the superb interior.
In a nutshell: Spacious, with an amalgam of style elements that combine to create a stunning leisure home, the Hampton is beautiful and luxurious. Having bedrooms at each end, both with en-suites, plus the addition of a hallway toilet room, make this lodge a splendid and unusual holiday lodge.
