The Atlas Sherwood holiday lodge and static caravan has been around since the 1980’s. Popular with buyers, its 2022 model looks better than ever
Atlas Leisure Homes have been around since 1976, then known as Aztec but changing to Atlas by 1977/8. Atlas has offered some innovative models over the years such as the round front bayed Supreme and then the Ovation range became a popular choice with many holiday caravan buyers in the 80’s and beyond.
Introducing the stunning Sherwood lodge for 2022, we checked out the first prototype built and were taken with the cut away front nearside corner with two full height windows.
There’s full guttering and front patio doors too, and the chassis is pre-galvanised, plus there’s rigid PVC exterior cladding along with uPVC double glazed windows. Add to the fact that this lodge is also built to residential specification, means winter use extends your holiday season.
So a rather smart looking lodge from the outside, and the interior is also dressed to impress.
The front lounge area has free-standing two and three-seater settees. There’s also a foot stool and coffee table, plus in-built TV stand with drawer storage.
A novel idea is the built-in seats with drawers below by the side window, a nice touch for visitors.
For chilly evenings a wall mounted electric fire is fitted below the TV wall fitting. USB points and low wattage lighting will help to keep running costs down.
The kitchen area is a superb feature of the Atlas Sherwood lodge – it has excellent storage as well as decent worktop space. The contrasting upper and lower colours of the cupboard doors work well with the light wood finish of the range of storage cupboards on the side wall.
Here you’ll find a 70/30 fridge freezer and a microwave is fitted as standard, plus an electric oven and spacious larder-type storage with pull-out shelving. A five-burner gas hob is fiited into the worktop.
A Fakro kitchen roof light is an option worth adding, to bring in lots of light into the kitchen and dining area.
Between the lounge/kitchen a wall mounted grey radiator is a great feature as well as being practical. The kitchen also has space for an optional washing machine and dishwasher near the entrance.
The twin bedroom offers two three foot wide beds and the room itself is light and airy and quite spacious, with a fitted wardrobe. Some wall shelves would be useful though and their absence makes the walls look plain.
From here you can walk straight into the main bathroom complete with a bath, loo and hand basin, with a storage cupboard beneath. It’s a good-sized room though the bath is more ideal for younger children. There’s a roof light for light and ventilation but no window.
Into the master bedroom and it’s here you’ll find a king-sized bed with storage beneath.
Although there are two side cabinets it would have been handy to have shelves above the bed head on the wall. You do get a small dressing table with chair and two drawers and round mirror. There’s also a large wardrobe with drawer storage below. It’s quite a spacious room so you won’t feel hemmed in at all.
There’s also a spacious en-suite with a toilet, hand basin and a walk-in shower. It’s light and airy helped by the large window.
Verdict: The Atlas Sherwood lodge will tick many boxes for buyers. We liked the light wood finish and the natural, warm tones in the modern and spacious lounge. The kitchen offers plenty of worktop and cupboard storage and we loved the pull-out storage section. Overall, we feel the Sherwood lodge carries on the Atlas tradition of design flare and practical design.
Plus points: Kitchen storage, comfortable lounge area and good-sized bedrooms
Minus points: Shelving needed in bedrooms; no dishwasher as standard; and chassis isn’t fully galvanised
In a nutshell: The Atlas Sherwood is a range that continues to be popular and offers a lot of lodge for this price range. If you like modern and practical kitchens then the Sherwood ticks all the boxes.
