Swift launches new lodge offering contemporary ambience for 2022
Swift hasn’t done very much to their holiday caravans recently, however for the 2022 season, a new lodge has been added. We got to see a recently-finished model at their Hull factory.
This new creation from Swift’s design team is a 40ft x 20ft twin lodge named the Edmonton and is available as a two or three bedroomed option.
We take a look inside the two-bed model – but immediately from the outside it has a recognisable Swift Group stamp on it.
The chassis is galvanised, and the front of the Swift Edmonton boasts two sets of patio doors with a side entrance door, and nice-looking dark grey windows. Entering through that side door, there’s a utility room on the right, with a washing machine and the gas boiler. Full central heating will make sure the lodge is kept warm in winter.
The front lounge area offers such a feeling of space, with two large settees facing the focal point in the lounge – the fireplace – as well as the TV cabinet. There’s even a posh looking footstool and LED lighting is integral in the ceiling.
With two windows, one either side of the fireplace, natural light literally floods in.
The other half of the lounge is taken over by the dining area, where up to six can be seated. We liked the modern light fitting over the table, and opposite there’s a small bookshelf and cupboard unit.
We wonder if another window here might have worked, but instead, there’s a wall-hanging mirror. We feel a larger mirror would have looked more balanced.
From the dining area, the Swift Edmonton kitchen offers an L-shaped design with plenty of cupboard storage, as well as excellent worktop. It’s well-equipped with a microwave and oven/hob with extractor hood, plus a fridge and separate freezer.
A breakfast bar is also another kitchen feature, but there’s no direct light fitting above it. The kitchen is spacious with room to prepare meals and has several mains sockets.
The Swift design team has had more room to play with in the Swift Edmonton two bed layout. One key feature of this is in the twin bedroom, where the beds are full adult-sized and there are free standing wardrobes, complete with built in drawers.
Between the beds there’s a small locker with a drawer and shelf, while near the entrance door there’s a compact built-in dresser. Storage here is confined to a cupboard, although it’s more of a glorified shelf. Some wall shelves could have also been added to improve the bedroom’s appeal.
On our rounds of reviewing new holiday caravans and lodges, there’s a definite case of the bath making a comeback!
The Swift Edmonton’s main bathroom has a good-sized bath with shower over it. There’s good storage here with shelves and a cupboard under the hand basin.
Go to the master bedroom, and although its not quite as big as you might have thought, it does still offer a king-sized double bed and good floor area.
With the light colour scheme, this room is in no way dowdy, and add a large side window and the room has a glow about it. There are two small chests either side of the bed with two mounted wall lights.
Again, a shelf above the bed would have broken the wall up, and provided some extra storage. This bedroom also has a dressing table and comes with shelving and drawer storage plus a wall mounted TV aerial/mains socket.
The master bedroom’s en-suite not only comes with a loo and hand basin but also a full-sized walk in shower. It’s all well fitted out and the space has been used well, though we thought the hand basin was quite small.
Entry to the en-suite is via the walk-through wardrobes, which has plenty of hanging and general storage.
Verdict: The Swift Edmonton twin lodge lodge is contemporary and perfect for a family or couple who want a light and airy ambience. The lounge area is relaxing, while the kitchen and dining area doesn’t disappoint in any shape of form. The Edmonton is a welcome edition to Swift’s lodge line-up, with just a few little niggles.
Plus points: Relaxing spacious lounge area with plenty of natural light, good dining area and kitchen and large twin bedroom.
Minus points: Bedrooms could do with some extra shelving; the dressing table in the twin bedroom could be better; and small hand basin in the master bedroom en-suite.
In-a-nutshell: Good to see a new holiday lodge from Swift. Even on a dull day the Edmonton has a cheery ambience and we’re sure it will impress viewers to add it to their shortlist.
