As far as first impressions go, the Willerby Brookwood holiday caravan certainly raises the eyebrows as you first walk in.
This static caravan is open plan in its design of the lounge and kitchen area; another way to describe it would be: ‘There’s so much space!’
As you enter the Willerby Brookwood, to your immediate left is a small breakfast bar, with a reclaimed wood-effect finish and very stylish and simple stools. Not only is it a nice place to sit to enjoy a morning coffee, it’s a great place to put your shopping on as you walk in – or, indeed, to sit and write a review, as we discovered!
Hanging above the breakfast bar is a pendant light, black metal and glass, with a filament bulb; a little industrial note to add to the already stylish look.
The lounge continues the spacious theme. On one side runs the L-shaped sofa, which backs onto the rear of the dining area. On the other side is the Brookwood’s entertainment wall, with TV connections and plenty of storage for everything from Xboxes to any other type of boxes. There are four large cupboards above the TV position and another four beneath.
The frontages to the cupboards are a crisp white, which blends perfectly with the reclaimed wood effect tops and sides.
There’s a very nice coffee table, again in reclaimed wood effect, and finished with black metal legs to give another hint of industrial charm to this holiday caravan.
The sofa runs the entire length of the lounge space, with the ‘L’ part forming a cosy corner opposite the breakfast bar. The fabric scheme for the sofa is a pale aqua fabric; very light, it gives an injection of colour into the Brookwood’s lounge that complements the natural wood and bright white palette throughout.
The kitchen is to your right as you walk into the Willerby Brookwood, with the dining area directly ahead of you. The dining area mirrors the lounge seating insofar as it’s also an L-shape, with one side backing onto the back of the lounge sofa. There are also two stools for when you wish to increase the seating capacity around the table.
The kitchen surface is a pale reclaimed or distressed wood effect, with a darker tone of wood being used for the cupboard surrounds. Soft-close drawers and cupboards feature in the Brookwood’s kitchen, along with inset LED lighting at floor level, shooting beams of crisp white light across the pale laminate wood floor.
The hob is large, has four burners and a silvered glass splash-back. Inset LED lighting above the kitchen window helps to give the feeling of natural light coming in, even when the time of day means you need a little lighting help!
Next to the kitchen and the dining table is what we would term the larder area, housing the fridge freezer, microwave and three very large cupboard drawers. (The central heating boiler is also hidden away here, with a little extra storage below it.)
A most important aspect of the Brookwood is how much space there is in the living area. Social distancing has become ingrained into our psyche, so much so that we all notice space; we’re not suggesting you would want to social-distance when using your holiday caravan but, in the Brookwood, it’s not only possible, it’s easy. The Willerby Brookwood gives you enough space to relax in the lounge, eat at the dining table and have a party in the kitchen all at the same time; a thoroughly versatile space.
Towards the back of the holiday caravan is the accommodation section. On the left is the shower room, which has an ocean grey splash-back behind the sink and cool wallpaper made up of white geometric lines, against a grey background. It’s modern and stylish, and with enough storage for all your ablution essentials.
Opposite the shower-room is the second bedroom. A pale green velvet bedhead runs the length of this room with two single beds either side of a bedside cabinet.
Above each of the beds is a cupboard and shelving unit, continuing the distressed wood effect. The white finish to the cupboards and drawers, of which there are three below the wardrobe, adds to the bright and airy feeling even in such a small room.
The main bedroom is at the back of the Willerby Brookwood and spans the entire width. As in the second bedroom, a velvet bed head runs the width of the bedroom. Above it are five large cupboards and, in front of the bed, next to the small but very useful dressing table, are the two full-length wardrobes.
The doors and surrounds are a distressed wood effect and the doors and drawers are that crisp white again. It’s modern, yet at the same time cosy.
The en-suite is next to the wardrobe, it doesn’t have a shower, though; that’s probably the Brookwood’s only downside.
Verdict: Comfortably in the entry level region in terms of price, the Brookwood surprises with a layout that creates plenty of living space and has a brilliant stand-out feature: a breakfast bar. The décor is imaginative in its use of reclaimed or distressed wood effect. This is a cosy-looking home with plenty of seating and versatility.
Plus points: The breakfast bar. Plenty of space. Plenty of seating area.
Minus points: There’s no shower in the en-suite to the main bedroom
