A mix of contemporary and classic styling, with lots of ultra-modern elements, and an overarching feeling of luxury leisure lifestyle define the new Heron holiday lodge from the Omar Group.
In this video, we take a look around the 2023 Omar Heron lodge:
This is a high-end lodge that ticks all of the boxes for buyers who are searching for a holiday abode that has a bedroom and en-suite configuration ideal for two couples, and a super-spacious day area in which the kitchen, dining and lounging functions merge in open-plan design, yet each has its own clear space and distinct identity.
The Omar Heron lodge is overtly modern. Yet there’s a cosy, welcoming feel from the moment you step inside.
We began our review exploration at what might be described as the rear door, leading to a short corridor equipped with a cloaks cabinet. There are also huge patio entrance doors at the front, opening into the lounge.
Two steps forward from the rear door takes you to the entrance to the vast living area; a picture of outstanding styling, with the large dining table in the foreground.
And, at the other side of the picture, a wall finished in olde-worlde country house panelling. Or is it? Closer inspection reveals this to be wallpaper of an extraordinary pattern, with a three-dimensional design that really looks as if the panels are recessed.
Near to this amazing wall feature is one of the living area’s four distinct spaces. Omar calls it a ‘reading area’. There’s a traditional-style armchair, a sideboard with three contemporary inlaid wood-style doors, and a standard lamp. This area feels quite separate from the main element of the lounge: the L-shaped settee and log fire.
The Omar Heron lodge’s lounge is an elegant, and also cosy, area, with television connections above the wide, imposing fireplace where ‘flames’ dance against a glass back panel behind real logs set on a pebble base. This cleverly designed feature incorporates four mains power sockets, USB ports and aerial points in a recess beneath the fire.
Cosy and inviting though the lounge and reading area are, arguably the stunning styling of the kitchen surpasses it in terms of wow factor. It has one of the largest breakfast bars in any lodge, bordering the spacious kitchen that is complete with a double-doored fridge-freezer incorporating an ice and chiller water dispenser.
This is every inch a high-end kitchen, in terms of equipment, style and practicality.
Ten bright white spotlights set into the bases of the dark blue units, and eight more lights in the ceiling, plus three pendant lights with basket-style shades over the breakfast bar, create ultra-modern lighting design in the Omar Heron lodge.
The hob is a five-burner, sitting at one end of the kitchen, with the vast breakfast bar close at hand for when you need huge amounts of surface space. It’s easy to picture the Omar Heron’s kitchen in full-on entertaining mode.
Dishes emerging from cooking, dishes being garnished ready for the table and, on the other two surface areas (flanking the ceramic sink and drainer), more food waiting in the wings for their time in the oven or microwave that are arranged one on top of the other integrated into the suite of cabinets to the right of the sink. This suite also houses the fridge-freezer, plus four of the eight sizeable cabinets that make this kitchen superb in term of storage ability.
The luxury equipment status of this kitchen is topped off by a wine cooler and a high-arching flexible tap that enables you to swivel it to rinse items on the drainer or in the small sink between the large sink and drainer.
Rounded-back chairs, beautifully upholstered in tactile pale grey fabric, make both the dining suite and breakfast bar luxuriously comfortably areas.
The two bedrooms in the Omar Heron lodge, both with en-suite bathrooms, have their own characters.
One has a double bed as standard; the other has twin beds, though you can opt for a double bed here.
The main bedroom has a shower en-suite, hidden behind a wall that houses wardrobes, drawers and shelves, with three sliding, mirrored doors. Styling in the shower room majors on wood-effect tiles, bringing in a touch of the country house theme that we see in the statement wall behind the reading area in the lounge.
Lighting set into the mirror and a tall chrome finished towel warmer add the luxury touches to this en-suite room, and also to the one that is next to the twin bedroom at the other end of the lodge.
Here, the tile style is rock-effect, in gloss finish. This is among the most spacious bathrooms you’ll find in any holiday lodge. There’s an over-bath shower with both directional and drench shower roses.
Like the double bedroom, the twin room has a dressing table – and both rooms have sliding doors to lead out to your decking. Ultra-dark grey cabinetry – that’s two wardrobes and three integrated drawers – and an entire wall of this outstanding on-trend colour behind the bed, is teamed with country-style leaf pattern fabric for the curtains, headboards and bed cushions.
The effect is to bring together the country house and modern style elements of the Omar Heron and this room seems to do that with more emphasis than in other areas of the lodge.
Just off the corridor that leads to this bedroom and en-suite area is the Omar Heron’s practicality zone: the utility room, complete with a washing machine, surface area and cabinets.
Verdict: With a pitched roof, four sliding doors to lead out to decking, and dimensions that make sure you’re in a super-spacious leisure environment, Omar’s new Heron brings to the market a luxury lodge set to turn heads and also give buyers a top-notch level of equipment.
Plus points: The vast size of the open plan kitchen lounging dining area. The storage capacity of the kitchen. The layout, with bedrooms at each end
Minus points: None
In a nutshell: Luxurious, vast, with bedrooms at each end and a hugely spacious, open-plan central lounge-kitchen-dining area, the Omar Heron is an awesome new lodge with country house and modern styling integrated magnificently.
