Swift’s Bordeaux has been around since the company went into static caravan manufacture in 2005 and remains a popular choice for many
Swift static caravans and lodges can be found on most holiday parks in the UK.
Eighteen years ago, the company added static caravans to their portfolio – it was the beginning of a new venture and one model they produced back then was the Bordeaux.
Fast forward to 2023 and the Swift Bordeaux has been tweaked to make it that little bit more appealing.
The Swift Bordeaux comes on a Fusion galvanised chassis, plus Swift’s bonded construction, adding strength and good insulation.
Our review model was fitted with optional front French doors. If buyers don’t want this option the standard front windows for the new Swift Bordeaux have been made larger. Windows are uPVC double glazed and the standard exterior colour is a sandy beige textured wood grain aluminium. A coated steel pantile roof with front overhang makes the Bordeaux looks modern and stylish.
The interior sees the usual front lounge configuration with two and three-seater free-standing sofas. The two-seater also doubles up as an occasional fold out bed. The neutral colour scheme is very in vogue and overall, it’s light and airy.
There’s a new freestanding TV cabinet in the Swift Bordeaux for 2023, along with a large, gold-framed mirror on the wall which can be moved for a wall mounted TV.
There’s also a new wall unit with two doors and a central shelf, plus a coffee table with two upholstered cylindrical stools underneath for extra seating.
The kitchen is placed behind the lounge area and features a large amount of worktop and cupboard storage and overhead wall cupboards.
The “supermatt” Riverstone soft-close cupboard doors look very smart and classy, with the upper doors in a Light Grey. An integrated microwave, fridge and freezer plus full gas hob and oven with extractor fan is part of the kitchens spec.
Users will have no gripes as there are plenty of power sockets and two Steam Punk pendant light fittings over the centre worktop complete the look.
The side dining table has four chairs finished in the same Riverstone colour as the kitchen cupboard doors and blends in nicely with the Bordeaux’s colour scheme. Its all well laid out and practical with the carpet in the lounge giving way to laminate-effect vinyl flooring in the kitchen.
The first bedroom is a twin and comes with two beds that adults would find comfortable to use. There’s a chest of drawers between the beds while a wall locker above the headboards provides two lockers and shelves with an LED strip light beneath. In the corner opposite the door is a wardrobe which offers storage for two occupants.
Opposite is the main bathroom with a shower and loo – its not quite as large as the en-suite shower room. Both rooms have a contemporary décor with bathroom cabinets offering storage for toiletries and of course a mirror. A window is fitted in both bathrooms along with a ladder radiator.
The Swift Bordeaux’s main bedroom has a king-sized bed with lift up storage and a deep Aurora Duvalay mattress, plus padded headboard.
The built-in wardrobe has ample room for clothes while more storage is provided with overbed cupboards and bedside cabinets. In the corner of the bedroom is a stylish vanity area with a dressing table with drawers, stool and mirror with shelves.
The en-suite is just by the bedrooms entrance door.
Verdict: The Swift Bordeaux is an established model range in Swift’s line up and for 2023 their designers have not done anything too radical. Subtle changes and an up-to-date interior design keep this range fresh.
This 38ft x 12ft, two bedroomed model is a comfortable, good value, family static caravan with a good specification and enough space for its occupants.
In this popular size the competition is stiff, but Swift will hold its own with the refreshed Bordeaux.
Plus points; Build quality, king-sized bed, kitchen area, décor, USB points added for 2023.
Minus points: No shaving point in bathroom-option only, not much to gripe about really.
In a nutshell; The Swift Bordeaux continues to keep its appeal with a good specification and modern looks to keep it fresh.
