The Edmonton has been a component of Swift’s holiday lodge range for some years. Now, though, a new Edmonton lodge has been unveiled; one with four bedrooms. And buyers have a choice of two interior design schemes, one with a coastal theme, and the one we review here, with a Scandinavian theme.

As you enter the Swift Edmonton holiday lodge through the side door you step directly into the practicality zone: a washing machine, the central heating unit, plus an upholstered seat with space for footwear beneath and four double coat hooks above.
A few steps further take you into the open-plan area, with the kitchen straight ahead. Matt grey upper cabinetry is smart and modern, teamed with white lower cabinets, all with black handles.
The breakfast bar has adjustable-height stools on the lounge side and two cabinets and two shelves on the kitchen side. The fridge-freezer is housed in a unit that also gives you three drawers and an upper cabinet. Three more drawers and three lower cabinets together give the Edmonton lodge’s kitchen excellent storage capacity.
Lots of outstanding features combine to give the Scandinavian-themed Swift Edmonton lodge a distinctive character. White wallpaper with a vertical plank pattern that looks like real wood marks out one wall beside the dining table as distinctly different. The six dining chairs, in classic Scandi style, have wooden, curved backrests. The table is matt fawn, with a subtle wood grain finish, and stands on a brown base; very plain and very stylish.
Two sofas – a three-seater and a two-seater – are laden with cushions. There are 11 in all, in shades of pale blue, fawn and light-reflective cream-fawn fabric. Three have bold geometric-inspired patterns in brown. Cosiness is guaranteed.
In typical Scandi-style, the coffee table is composed of two circles, at different levels, one higher than the other, both on plain black metal frames. Look closer, though, and you realise that there’s not just one coffee table, but two. Each can be moved around to suit needs, and so can the footstool seat. Versatility, thus, is a feature of the lounge.
The Edmonton’s bedroom area has a brilliant and innovative layout. From the corridor you can walk into the shower that’s en-suite to a double bedroom, and then into the bedroom itself, where you find a desk-style dressing table in a recess, with the wardrobe and two drawers alongside it.
Windows are on each side of the bedhead, which has two blue-upholstered panels set into a natural wood frame.
Back out into the corridor from this bedroom, you find a twin room opposite, complete with a small dressing table and wardrobe.
Along the corridor is the second twin room, identical in layout and styling. There’s not much floor space in these twin bedrooms, but this is fine, bearing in mind that Swift’s design team has managed to get four bedrooms into a 43ft x 20ft lodge.
The larger of the two double bedrooms has a capacious suite of two wardrobes, four drawers, a full-height shelf unit and a dressing table. And it has a shower en-suite room with plenty of floor space.
The vertical planking white and grey wallcovering that mimics natural wood that we like in the dining area is also used in all of the bedrooms, for the bedhead wall and one wall of the main bedroom’s en-suite. It imbues a slightly rustic feel.
Verdict: A holiday lodge designed not just for families, but for more than one generation, the new Swift Edmonton Lodge four-bedroomed model combines practicality, versatility, style and luxury.
Having two double bedrooms means it can easily cater for three-generation holidays – and that’s quality family time. And, because both of the double bedrooms have en-suite shower rooms, all the adults get luxury preening facilities.
Plus points: En-suite shower rooms to both double bedrooms. A lovely, open-plan living area. Breakfast barstools that are adjustable in height, so can be used anywhere
Minus points: Floorspace in the twin bedrooms is rather small but it’s a small price to pay for having the convenience of four bedrooms.
In a nutshell: Swift enhances its Edmonton lodge range for 2024 with the arrival of a new model that has four bedrooms.
