Of all the holiday lodges on the market, the all-new Regal Clifton lodge has to take top marks for the most house-like appeal of its kitchen.
Its shape follows the classic galley style, except that there’s cabinetry and shelving across the end. And it’s that rectangular, closed-off shape that gives this kitchen its cohesive appeal and also makes it feel very home-like – like a room on its own, yet also cleverly integrated into the semi open-plan aspect of the Regal Clifton Lodge.
It’s divided from the dining ‘room’ by a half wall and that, in turn, gives the dining area its own ‘room’ feel.
But back to the kitchen. A marble worktop, a double white sink with large drainer, a dishwasher and a washing machine, plus an oven and microwave arranged in a tower-style unit on the end of the kitchen… It’s very well-equipped.
The five-burner hob is set in an alcove opposite the sink area. It has surface space on each side and an extractor fan with two bright spotlights set into the cabinet above it. And storage? Two cabinets and three drawers in the hob sector. Two drawers under the oven and a cabinet above the microwave. There’s a cabinet at the end of the kitchen and, on the sink side of the kitchen are two large cabinets and a drawer. You’d never be short of storage space in a Regal Clifton lodge – and there’s a nice bonus of a skylight above the kitchen.
The dining suite has six chairs around the large table. The part wall that divides the dining area from the kitchen is clad in dark brown ridged wood; very modern and stylish.
Two armchairs and a two-seater sofa, plus a circular move-anywhere footstool seat that has an ottoman-style removal top revealing a good storage space, take care of the comfort arrangements.
The same vertical dark wood ridge styling that is the dining area runs along each side of the television area, where three cabinets and ample shelving are beneath the TV position.
The cream and pale blue colour scheme is delightfully light and bright and has a distinct summer holiday vibe.
The floor-to-ceiling window of the dining area makes sure oodles of natural light flood in here. From here, a door leads to the hallway where you find a boot seat, three double coat hooks and a shelf above.
The first room you find along the corridor is the twin bedroom, with plenty of floor space and a double wardrobe with two drawers beneath.
A double-doored cabinet and four large shelf areas are above the beds. The pastel blue and cream hues of the lounge are here in the curtains, bed runners and cushions. And the bedheads have a super-luxury look, with deep red and warm pale gold fabric. Lovely.
The same design and colour themes are in the master bedroom, where the bed is super-king-sized and, here, the warm pale gold colour of the bedhead is even more prominent, being larger, and curving around at the sides for an extra cosy look.
There’s a lovely dressing table with concealed lighting above the mirror, and a cube stool upholstered to match the bedhead.
The wardrobe has sliding mirrored doors outlined in matt grey. The bedside cabinets each have two wide drawers.
The en-suite shower room is spacious and has a large washbasin, concealed lighting above the mirror and a large cabinet beneath, plus a wall cabinet.
The second shower room is identical in size and styling. And this one has a tall chrome towel warmer.
Verdict: Every inch a luxury lodge, the new Regal Clifton lodge is more spacious than its 14ft width would suggest. We adore the kitchen for its practical configuration and its generous storage provision. We love the six-seater dining suite, the move-anywhere footstool seat in the lounge, the super-king-sized bed – and the outstanding feeling of luxury everywhere.
