New value for money range from Swift offers affordable holiday caravan ownership without feeling down market
Working hard for 2025, Swift has launched several new ranges, one being aimed at the entry-level buyer and/or park fleet buyers.
The new Swift Royan range offers excellent value and still has some design flair. The 35ft x 12ft two bedroomed model should prove to be popular out of the three on offer.
The exterior is simple in design with no front doors or even a bay window but it does have all the drains and guttering in place and the Swift Royan uses a galvanised chassis as well as Swift’s bonded construction system for extra warmth.
It might not be a head turner – but it’s only the front flat windows that give you a clue this isn’t a high- end holiday caravan.
On entering the Swift Royan static caravan it feels pleasant and modern and first impressions are not of an entry level unit. It’s bright and spacious, especially the front lounge area with its comfortable L-shaped built in settee.
There’s a low table for your morning coffee or tea and a large side TV cabinet with a deep drawer and shelving.
LED ceiling lights provide the illumination and modern light curtains brighten the décor. There are several mains plug sockets, plus a radiator.
The dinette is by the entrance door and consists of a movable bench seat on one side and two circular cushioned stools – though four dining chairs can be ordered as an option.
There’s a large side window to look out while you have your meal, while opposite is the L-shaped kitchen which provides some useful worktop space. There are several handless cupboards and wall units too so storage is good – some with open shelving.
With a white colour scheme mixed with a traditional wood grain it all looks very modern and tasteful. The oven has a four burner spark ignition hob complete with extractor fan. No fridge or microwave are fitted as standard but provisions are made for these to be added.
The side twin bedroom is designed for children, with short beds. Here there’s an overhead shelf above beds and a small wardrobe offers reasonable hanging space.
Across the corridor the main bathroom has a good-sized sliding door shower cubicle, toilet and pedestal sink with a mirror above. The only storage is a small shelf.
Stepping into the master bedroom and we found it was quite spacious. The king size bed has overhead shelving above plus hanging open bedside cabinets at either side in a light woodgrain.
There’s also a large built-in wardrobe and a small vanity unit with a mirror.
Next to the large wardrobe is a simple en-suite with a loo and hand basin – but no shower, though that’s not a spoiler.
Verdict: The Swift Royan holiday caravan is for the first time buyer. Although there are a few tell tale signs it’s at the lower end of the market, Swift has done a good job. They have kept price affordable and the Royan isn’t a static caravan that lacks in too much. The interior is simple but modern and tasteful and the options list allows extras that are important to the buyer so they can add to the enjoyment of the Royan.
Plus points: Good build quality, spacious lounge area, ample kitchen storage and worktop space, plenty of bedroom storage and pleasing colour scheme
Minus points: No storage in the main bathroom and limited cupboard space and shelving in the lounge
In a nutshell: An entry-level holiday caravan with good essential specification, including a galvanised chassis and central heating. The Swift Royan is bright, airy and offers good value.
