Willerby knows a thing or two about producing a good lodge, the Boston for 2025 proves this!
When it comes to an experienced holiday caravan and lodge manufacturer they don’t come more established than Willerby. They began in Willerby village in Hull in 1946! Seventy nine years later, for 2025 Willerby offers its twin Boston holiday lodge – a 40ft x 20ft unit.
The exterior is modern and comes with a wood grained textured aluminium exterior finish, galvanised chassis and front sliding patio doors. Of course, it’s all double-glazed and is built to a BS3632 residential standard.
Stepping inside the Willerby Boston and you have that feeling that this lodge is not an all bells and whistles model. Instead, it offers a good no-nonsense design with a décor that’s pleasing to the eye.
Two twin settees nestle around an oak-coloured coffee table and a side cabinet is fitted below where a TV can be put onto the wall. Opposite, there’s more storage with a twin cupboard with the doors finished in a pastel pink which match the upper wall cupboards in the kitchen. The lounge also shares its area with a dining table with four padded chairs.
If you like a kitchen with plenty of worktop and cupboard storage the Willerby Boston scores well. It also features a fitted microwave, cooker, plus extractor fan. There’s a fridge and separate freezer of course but a dishwasher is on the options list.
We liked the dark graphite-coloured main kitchen units, which contrast with blush pink coloured cabinet doors above and the dark oak trim.
LED lighting is integrated into the ceiling but you don’t get dedicated lighting under the wall-mounted cupboards.
Just opposite the kitchen is the side door entrance which has a small bench seat and a place to hang coats, etc.
Walk into the back of the Willerby Boston and the main bathroom is on your right, complete a walk-in shower, or a full-size bath as an option should you want one. It’s spacious and bright plus, a side window allows for ventilation and daylight to shine in.
There’s plenty of space to get ready and shelving for all your bathroom accessories.
The twin bedroom comes with two adult-sized beds and plenty of space to move about, plus a good-sized wardrobe for clothes. The addition of cupboards or shelving above the beds would have been a great idea for extra storage, plus it would break up that plain wall at the same time. There is a central chest of shelves but we feel more storage here would not have gone amiss.
Moving on into the master bedroom, and you’ll find a champagne accent wall, a king-sized bed, plus, a walk-in wardrobe, which also comes with drawers and a small floating dressing table. There’s more storage at the side of the bed with a chest of shelves at each side.
This bedroom is again as the twin, spacious, and comes with good storage too, and an en-suite. This has a walk-in shower and is well-appointed, with ample room, a ladder radiator, and shelving, making it a very practical area.
Verdict: We must remember that the Willerby Boston is classed as an entry-level lodge, but at the first casual look, you wouldn’t think so. It certainly doesn’t have that basic feel, although we would have liked to see extra storage in the twin bedroom.
However, the kitchen is well designed and we liked the good run of worktop for preparing meals.
This is a holiday lodge that provides comfort for four and we think it does it well.
Plus points: Spacious bedrooms and shower rooms, great kitchen area doesn’t look entry level
Minus points: Not much storage in the twin bedroom and no electric fire in the lounge
