Smart, pale grey, horizontally aligned CanExel in wood grain finish, combined with dark grey window frames, makes sure the new Omar Alderney holiday lodge will turn heads on any park.
We say ‘new’, because the well-established Alderney holiday lodge now has a new look, that’s not just about the exterior colour scheme. It’s about the stunning front window design, and the totally new interior layout and design.
The new Omar Alderney has a split roofline with French doors on one half of the front elevation and, on the other, an angled section that sits slightly forward of the French doors.
Step inside and you’re immediately aware that this 2021 lodge is up at the top of the luxury class. It’s huge, and beautifully appointed, with a dream kitchen, and a lounge that has the word ‘relax’ written through every inch.
Our review model was the 40ft x 20ft two-bedroomed Omar Alderney. It’s one of six in the range, all 20ft wide, and ranging in length from 36ft to 50ft. Three-bedroom layouts are available in two of the sizes, the 50ft and 45ft.
Now for the details. The lounge occupies half of the living area, furnished with two settees, and two coffee tables of an intriguing style; the tops have a geometric design of prominent grain veneer. The frames are metal, simplistically modern in shape, yet with a woodland vibe.
The extending dining table has the same styling and the dining chairs. These are also on metal frames and are luxuriously upholstered in dark brown suede-effect fabric.
The Omar Alderney kitchen is massive, and has a large breakfast bar. Two stools are supplied, although they were not in place when we took the photographs. The L-shape configuration offers lots of surface space and, of course, there’s a whole lot more space on the island unit breakfast bar.
The oven-grill is at roughly waist height, with cupboards both above and beneath. At the other end of the L-shape sits the fridge-freezer, and the shelving incorporates a four-position wine rack.
A washer-dryer and dishwasher hide away among the suite of pure white cabinets.
Pure white is a theme that runs right though this delightful holiday lodge. The kitchen tiles are glossy white, with a very slight concave shape, and almost ripple-effect to catch the light from both the windows and the spotlights set into the white-panelled, vaulted ceiling.
In both of the bedrooms, white panelling is a design feature, not only for the ceiling, but for the bedhead walls, which have recessed sections and four spotlights set into them.
The bed in the main room is king-size, flanked by neat, wall-mounted lamp tables. Each has two mains sockets, perfect for charging phones.
All of the furniture is white in both of the Alderney’s bedrooms. The main bedroom has a double wardrobe and a chest of four drawers.
The second bedroom has a dressing table with two single wardrobes and three drawers, all integrated into one unit.
The en-suite shower room leads off the main bedroom via an angled door, to gain maximum floor space in the bedroom – and the shower room doesn’t lack space. Both this shower room and the main bathroom have chrome towel-warmer radiators.
In the bathroom, a glass water shield folds into four sections against the wall; very neat. Tiling, on all four walls, is matt rock-effect. At the end of the bath is a four-shelf unit, ideal for rolled-up towels or other bathroom paraphernalia.
Verdict: We had the opportunity to spend quality time in the new Omar Alderney at their Suffolk showground before any of these models had been delivered to holiday parks.
Early in our review we realised that this new version of the Omar Alderney luxury lodge will have strong appeal, for its bright, white interior decor, its lovely, huge, open-plan kitchen-lounge-dining area – and for its head-turning new exterior design that will instantly attract attention from buyers looking for a stunning holiday lodge.
The Alderney’s kitchen is a holiday lodge-owners dream, up there with the best in domestic design and practicality. And it’s easy to envisage families relaxing, eating and engaging in media entertainment in the enormous living space.
Plus points: The generous size of the kitchen; the bright, white décor; the veneer pattern detail in the tabletops and the stunning new front window design.
Minus points: No negatives!
