The Wessex Cranborne park home has an amalgam of style elements that combine to create a park home with a striking character.
Cosiness and ultra-modernity are both guaranteed in no small measure. It’s the combination of the details that make this new-for-2022 park home so stunning. And, although the Wessex Cranborne is a true residential park home, its styling gives it something of a holiday vibe, which means you’d perpetually feel on holiday if you bought one – no bad thing by any stretch.
We’ll start our exploration of the details in the kitchen, where a unique design raised area of the work surface forms a small breakfast bar that’s equally perfect for pre-dinner drinks. High-backed chairs fit under a ledge that creates the breakfast bar feel.
The kitchen units are arranged in a U-shape, housing the huge, five-burner hob, plus the ceramic sink and drainer with a rinser tap that you can detach from its arched holder and move around to rinse items both in the sink and on the drainer.
Seven cabinets, three wide drawers and a dishwasher are accommodated in this U-shaped sector that adjoins the other element of the kitchen: a suite of seven more cabinets, plus the fridge-freezer, and the twin Bosch ovens – who doesn’t want two independent ovens to cook at two different temperatures at the same time? Need is a strong word, but want? Oh yes!
The breakfast bar side of the kitchen culminates in a rounded section that houses four more cabinets. Burnished pewter handles add style to the gloss-fawn cabinets. It’s a spectacularly equipped kitchen as well as being of a practical design.
Behind it sits the utility room, with a sink identical to that in the kitchen, a washing machine, and two lower cabinets, plus three upper cupboards. Opposite is a floor-to-ceiling cupboard that’s ideal for items such as an upright vacuum cleaner.
One of the stunning style elements of the Wessex Cranborne park home is the wall covering. It’s slightly sparkly, with fine vertical stripes. The effect is to give the Cranborne a cosiness and definitely plays its part in creating a sophisticated, quality feel throughout this home.
The lounge, across the width of the home, is a spacious lofty area, with two sofas, four coffee tables, and a media cabinet that has two cupboards plus shelves. All these pieces of furniture are on black frames with inlaid natural wood segments arranged in a geometric pattern, rather reminiscent of some patterns you would find in parquet flooring.
Natural wood makes a statement at floor level, too; the oak-effect flooring that stretches from here all the way to the bedroom area looks charmingly modern. One of the walls of the lounge is papered in a covering that actually looks like fabric. It’s slightly reminiscent of a traditional ornate pattern that would be seen in a drawing room of a grand house, in shades of fawn.
Another Wessex Cranborne standout feature is the absence of curtains. Instead, there are Roman-style blinds, in a rich plum shade. Eight scatter cushions match the blinds.
Cottage style comes into the mix, too, in the form of a black, freestanding, flame-effect fire that sits on a marble plinth.
Two glass-shaded pendant lights hang over the dining table and two cylindrical lights hang from the lounge roof, together adding to the Wessex Cranborne’s sophisticated styling.
The dining table and sideboard are of the same black-framed, geometric wood inlay design as the furniture in the lounge.
Moving towards the rear of the Cranborne, to the main bathroom.
It has an over-bath shower with a glass screen, and a tall, chrome towel warmer. A mirror with elegant-double bevelled edging sits above the wide washbasin. Cream stone-effect tiles cloak the entire bathroom, and look delightful.
The main bedroom has a compete wall of wardrobes and shelves hidden behind sliding doors. The traditional design, fabric-look wallpaper that is on one wall in the lounge is here too, for a feature wall behind the bed.
Unusually, the bed is freestanding, with its own bedhead, as distinct from those that have an upholstered bedhead attached to the wall. This style injects a cottage feel, together with the traditional styling of the dressing table that has a freestanding mirror
The en-suite shower room, with tiling identical to that in the bathroom, has both a rainfall and directional rose. A tall, chrome towel warmer is here, too.
As we step out of the Wessex Cranborne park home we notice that, tucked away behind the door, in an alcove, is an upholstered seat with space beneath for putting on and taking off footwear, and three coat hooks; the necessary practicalities are taken care of!
The exterior of the Cranborne is stunning; symmetrically designed, with angled sections radiating from the peaked entrance. Around the black-framed windows are panels composed of slate, of shades ranging from warm rust, through to peach, pale and dark grey.
We reviewed the 50ft x 20ft Wessex Cranborne park home. Three other standard sizes are available, all with utility rooms. They are 60ft x 22ft, 50ft x 22ft and 45ft x 20ft.
Verdict: The 2022 Wessex Cranborne has lots of style detail, such as the burnished pewter handles in the kitchen, and wallpaper with a slight sparkle, that combines to create the sophistication that will wow buyers.
Plus points: Two ovens! A spacious lounge. Plenty of kitchen storage. The utility room, with a tall cabinet
Minus points: Some buyers might prefer carpeting in the lounge instead of the wooden flooring. Similarly, not everyone likes Roman blinds
