Carnaby Caravans is now 47 years old as a company and with well-established models such as the Highgrove in their line up, they’re keen to continue building on the success of the staycation nation!
For 2023, the Carnaby Highgrove static caravan is available in three layout sizes.
Our review model at Gallaber Park near Skipton in North Yorkshire was 40ft x 12ft with two bedrooms. It features front French doors (optional) as well as two front fixed side windows. Full guttering is included and a painted chassis, with a fully galvanised chassis and a green finish to the aluminium sides available as an optional extra.
The inside of the Carnaby Highgrove offers a very attractive appearance with carefully chosen fabrics and subtle design features.
In the lounge, a large, free-standing four-seater sofa is a main feature along with a rather comfy and stylish armchair. An electric fire is fitted with a mirror above, complete with glass shelves ideal for placing ornaments.
The large coffee table and remaining furniture are finished in light oak, including a spacious TV cabinet. The lounge is bright and airy with lots of natural light flooding in through the three side windows, as well as the front fixed ones, and optional French doors.
The dining area consists of a solid table with a slate effect top and four chairs included– a few inches extra length would help with more plate space.
The kitchen is split into two. There’s a sink and oodles of cupboards opposite the side entrance door, which also includes an integrated fridge/ freezer and on this review model, an optional single dishwasher and washing machine, plus a microwave.
In this area, there’s a wardrobe/storage cupboard so coats can be put here for easy access if needed. There are plenty of mains/USB sockets in the Highgrove’s kitchen and next to the side entrance door is the L-shaped cooking section. This has a four-burner hob with a twin oven and an extractor hood. There’s equally a good amount of storage here, with soft-close cupboards and that slate effect worktop, along with more mains sockets.
The corridor into the bedrooms and main shower room is dark even in daylight, although this is quite common with many static caravans.
On the left, opposite the twin bedroom is the main shower area. It’s here where the loo and hand basin is situated, with cupboard storage below and a mirrored cupboard above. A large window adds light and ventilation, while a chrome towel radiator is also placed on the wall.
Opposite is the twin bedroom. It’s quite compact and more suited for children and young teenagers, though the mattress quality is very good. Space is a little tight but there’s a corner wardrobe with a shelf and mirror next to it and cupboards and shelving above the beds.
The master bedroom comes with a spacious king-sized bed, also with a feature padded headboard, smartly designed reading lights, as well as excellent overbed cupboard storage, all in the same light oak furniture as the rest of the Carnaby Highgrove static caravan.
There’s more space for bits and bobs inside and on top of the bedside cabinets, plus there’s a dressing table complete with drawers, shelving, and a large mirror. There’s also a TV aerial point here as well as several mains sockets.
The bedroom is quite bright with a side window allowing light to flow through. The wardrobe storage is excellent with double-door access.
The full-sized en-suite has a shower cubicle, and vanity unit with a countertop sink. It’s styled as the main shower room with a mosaic patterned floor and is all very modern and practical.
Verdict: The Carnaby Highgrove is a long-running model and its formula of practical design and style has made it a static caravan that remains popular 15 years on.
We liked the lounge with its super comfy and stylish four-seater sofa – ideal for relaxing with friends. There’s a practical kitchen too and a pleasant master bedroom. A slightly larger dining table would be good and owners are restricted to using the TV cabinet because there isn’t room for one on the wall. But overall the Carnaby Highgrove is worthy of adding to your shortlist if you’re looking at this size and price bracket.
Plus points: Sumptuous lounge area and large sofa; quality mattresses; practical, well-appointed kitchen with lots of storage
Minus points: No TV wall mount in the lounge; dark corridor; and twin room would be tight for adults
In a nutshell: The Carnaby Highgrove is well-made, well-appointed, and contemporary and should continue to have long-lasting appeal to holiday caravan owners. There’s also a good options list to make it more of a personal choice.
