Pemberton has given the Serena a freshen up for 2023 and added extra appeal to this static caravan
Anybody who knows the background of Pemberton might (in 2023) find it hard to believe it was once a mass producer of static caravans – turning out more than 100 units a week in the 1960’s and by the end of that decade it had three factories churning out great value models. All this changed at the start of the 80’s when the old company was re-vamped and production was only at Wigan, and the other two factories shut down. The 1980’s onwards saw Pemberton concentrate on more upmarket models, re-inventing the Pemberton brand.
Back to the freshened up of the Pemberton Serena static caravan – an upper market 42ft x 13ft unit based on a galvanised chassis and clad in plastic coated aluminium (optional but on our example). The Serena also has full guttering and double glazed windows. Front patio doors are fitted and above the entrance side door is a triangular-shaped window – a neat feature which is carried through to the opposite area in the kitchen.
Step inside the all-new Pemberton Serena and into the spacious lounge with two sumptuous free standing settees in grey with a large storage seat-cum-table placed in the middle. There’s also a lighter coloured free-standing reading chair by the window.
The yellow curtains and matching cushions add a pop of colour and blend perfectly with the lounge’s grey décor. A large fireplace, with electric fire, sits between two large windows and has a TV bracket, socket and aerial point above.
A small chandelier-style light fitting is centrally placed, giving it a homely feel, although a few wall shelves wouldn’t have gone a miss.
There’s a glass topped dining table for four opposite the kitchen area, with a large side window allowing plenty of natural light to flood in. Two stool cushions can also be placed here to but that would restrict table room.
The kitchen is typical in design of most holiday caravans, with plenty of cupboard storage and masses of worktop too. It’s a U-shaped design with cream shaker-style doors and a microwave is neatly fitted into cupboard unit, which separates the kitchen from the lounge.
A five-burner gas hob is fitted along with a fridge/freezer. Our review model also had an optional washing machine and dishwasher supplied. The side window allows ventilation as well as natural light and that triangle shaped window above is a great feature.
Down the corridor, the first twin room is quite compact but does have a wardrobe and handy wall cupboards as well as combined shelves. There are sockets and a TV bracket on the wardrobe side.
The Pemberton Serena boasts a bath with a shower above, and the geometric flooring pattern here is carried in from the kitchen area. Although the bath isn’t very large (few are in holiday caravans) most will find it ideal for children as well as adults.
The hand basin though, is tucked in a corner, and does feel a little cramped.
The next bedroom has a free-standing single bed as well as a tall slim wardrobe with a mirrored door.
The master bedroom is a mix of cream colours and light oak-coloured furniture. There’s room here for a king-sized bed and large, padded headboard.
Plenty of storage is part of the package here, with two wardrobes plus a built-in dressing table and two bedside drawer units. The floor space isn’t over generous and the entrance door to the bedroom just touches the corner of the bed.
There’s an en-suite in the corner of the bedroom, which has a walk-in sliding door shower, as well as a loo and hand basin. It’s surprisingly quite spacious and also comes with a large side window and a wall mounted cupboard with mirrored door.
Verdict: You can’t help but notice the solid build quality of a Pemberton static caravan. The interior dividing walls don’t flex and the furniture and fixtures feel well-made. The Pemberton Serena’s lounge is spacious and we feel this is a holiday caravan that offers great value, is well laid out and is built to last.
Plus points: Solid build, quality feel throughout, good kitchen/dining area and décor.
Minus points: The master bedroom is tight on access around the bed. There’s a lack of shelves in the lounge and tight hand basin access in the main bathroom.
In a nutshell: The Pemberton Serena static caravan has been around for a few years and continues to be a popular choice in the holiday caravan line-up due to its sturdy, solid and generally well-planned design.

Hi
Having purchased a 2022 Serena 2 bed I was interested to read your article.
My understanding is that the 3 bed model was discontinued for 2023 and I think you have quoted the 2022 price!
Hi Dave, the model we reviewed was one of the few 2023 3-bedroomed Serena models that was made.
