Successful holiday home show returns

The newly named Great Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show returns to Harrogate next month after its success last year.

The event will take place from Friday, September 6th to Sunday 8th at the Great Yorkshire Showground with a great celebrity line-up.

Professional dog trainer, TV presenter and best-selling author Graeme Hall; “Retirement Rebel” and author Siobhan Daniels; and Yorkshire Vet Peter Wright will all take part in daily chat shows hosted by TV presenter Christine Talbot.

New for 2024 is a flexible ticket offer to allow visitors to the Great Caravan, Motorhome and Holiday Home Show to buy one ticket and attend on any day or all three days.

Show Chairman Peter Munk, CEO of Willerby Ltd, said: “We’re very excited about this year’s event. Ticket sales are going great. We have many additional attractions this year, from entertainment to crafts, as well as all the latest and most exciting caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes; so there should be something to appeal to all the family. Dogs are also welcome at the event, hence our choice of celebrities!”

The celebrities will appear on stage in Hall One on each day of the Show. Graeme Hall is the long-standing presenter of Channel 5’s Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly and is a Sunday Times columnist and bestselling author of two books. He said: “For many of us, dogs are a key part of the family and, as such, come on holiday with us. I’ll be providing some insight on to how to keep them on their best behaviour while you’re on vacation.”

Siobhan Daniels – the Retirement Rebel – is a former BBC TV and Radio presenter, reporter and producer who grew up in Leeds and trained as a nurse at St James’s Hospital. Approaching retirement and frustrated with her job, she made a decision to change her life, got rid of her possessions and set off in her motorhome to find challenges. Her adventures have led to her book, Retirement Rebel, which she hopes will inspire women across the UK to explore their potential for new adventures. She also hosts the podcast “Retirement Rebel: Life after 60” which has been shortlisted in the International Women’s Podcast Awards.

She’s an impassioned advocate of the idea that age should not be a barrier to having an adventure: “I want to encourage women to travel independently,” she said. “I’m approaching 65 and I’m the happiest I have ever been and my outdoor life is very much a part of that.”

The line up is completed by Peter Wright, loved by millions as a star of Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet. Peter has spent his life working outdoors and has no plans to swap the weather for the sofa any time soon.  He said: “Spending time outside in the fresh air and exploring is beneficial for everyone and caravans, motorhomes and holiday homes are a great way to achieve this so I am really looking forward to seeing what is new in the field.”

Richard Jones, Chairman of the show’s organisers HERCMA said: “Our first show in Harrogate was a big success and we’re looking forward to building on this for the good of the industry. We were also pleased that the Show and trade dinner made significant donations to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Children’s Society. We took a big leap of faith by moving the Show to a more central location and we have received positive and constructive comments which will help us develop it further. Exciting times ahead, for us all.”
