2014 Omar Apex 46ft x 20ft holiday lodge review

The Apex lodge made by Omar, measuring 46ft x 20ft certainly captured our attention with its classy looking exterior and hip roof.  The French doors into the living area were open revealing more than a hint of the interior colour scheme; there isn’t a better way to encourage us to make a closer inspection.

The living area has windows on three sides; in fact there are ten windows in the open plan living/dining/kitchen area each with Roman blinds with wide horizontal stripes in aqua, mocha and cappuccino colours. They co-ordinate beautifully with the two sofas set opposite each other with a large pouffe with a glass inlay between them.

The sofas are upholstered in a soft duck egg blue chenille fabric with large scatter cushions introducing a different texture and variation on the soft blue/green theme. Aqua vertical blinds hang at the French doors of the Omar Apex. An electric flame effect fire is in a raised hearth, mounted on a distinctive leather look feature wall with a television aerial and power point. First impression; it’s very stylish.

The reverse of the feature wall is home to a breakfast bar, with floating shelves, a wall mounted television aerial socket, a power point and USB power socket. Two black and chrome leather look chairs look just right at the walnut worktop, carried across from the well equipped, spacious U shaped kitchen with plenty of worktops.

Appliances include an integrated fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a four burner gas hob with a stainless steel splash back and extractor, and a built-in single electric oven and grill. The furniture is high gloss cream with walnut carcasses and the cushion flooring is a plank effect. The adjacent dining area has a walnut table, six chairs and is illuminated by a pendant light supplemented by two Velux windows and full length windows.

Off the hall is the utility room, not exactly a box room and not a design compromise as the kitchen theme has been carried through with plenty of cupboards, an integral washer/dryer machine, the central heating boiler, walnut worktops and a fully opaque glazed door to the exterior.

The model we saw was designed with three bedrooms; ideal for using as study or studio. The third bedroom has twin beds with a centre bedside table, a wall mounted television socket, a wardrobe at the bottom of each bed, and a twist on the living area colour scheme with teal and cream curtains and a teal bed runner.

The second bedroom has one wardrobe, a television point and features big chocolate brown leather headboards over the twin beds; it’s a similar design to the third bedroom.

The bathroom doesn’t lack in design either with an 800mm wall hung basin and vanity unit with a feature mirror with LED lighting above it. The bath has a concertina style bath screen and a mosaic feature wall.

The highlight is the master bedroom where a 4ft 6ins bed has a padded headboard and, two freestanding bedside cabinets, and a chest of drawers, a teal coloured bed runner with co-ordinating curtains. A walk-through wardrobe leads to a luxuriously appointed en-suite shower room with a 1400mm walk-in shower, with a mosaic tile feature wall, a 600mm wall hung basin and vanity unit, LED lighting, towel storage, down lighters, and an aqua coloured blind at the window.

The Omar Apex lodge is built to BS 3632 residential standard and clad in Canexel with brown PVCu window frames. Please refer to the park licence and associated planning conditions before confirming your order.

Verdict: A sumptuous interior design package, a good layout with lots of luxury and finesse make this a top-of-the-range model; it’s a five star package. We would have liked to seen have more in the way of energy friendly lighting. The Apex can be tweaked at the point of design to encompass desired personal preferences.
