2015 Swift Biarritz 38 x 12, 2 bed static caravan review

Swift’s all new Biarritz range offers three versions of this mid-priced holiday home; a 38 x 12, 2 bed version, a 35 x 12, 3 bed with two toilets and a 35 x 13, 3 bed version with extra storage facility. In this review we look at the 2 bedroom home.

Swift Biarritz

Designed as a ‘next stage up’ home, the Swift Biarritz features spacious accommodation, clean lines and an easy-on-the-eye colour palette.

Swift Biarritz - Exterior

Outside, the home has both a large patio entrance and side front door and has plenty of uPVC windows allowing in natural light, a woodgrain textured aluminum cladding in a Sandy Beige colour and moulded GRP bargeboards. The unit is mounted on a Zinphos painted chassis with a three year warranty – an essential item when you consider many of these homes will be situated very near the coast with constant salt water in the air.

Swift Biarritz - Patio Door Entrance

The bonded sandwich exterior wall construction gives the unit extra strength and insulation properties while the coated steel pantile roof tops it off with an attractive look.

Swift Biarritz - Lounge

Walking through the front patio style doors you are immediately struck by the amount of light in the lounge area; a combination of the large windows and lighter colour scheme of browns and sandy shades.

Swift Biarritz - TV and Fireplace

A long sofa (which can be converted to an extra bed for further accommodation) is complimented by a free standing armchair set around a central coffee table and in the corner sits a TV/Digital box unit and a central wood framed fireplace with living flame electric fire, mantlepiece and mirror. Altogether a spacious room which wouldn’t get crowded if a large family was in residence.

The kitchen and dining area comes next and features a split kitchen with cooker hob, oven and stainless steel re-circulating hood aside the cupboard containing the home’s main boiler. Storage cupboards are either side of the cooker with useful counter tops above. Opposite, an L-shaped unit has the sink/drainer with more storage under, a long counter with cupboards above and fridge/freezer below.

Swift Biarritz - Kitchen

The fact that the kitchen is split either side of the front entrance door gives a surprisingly roomy feel. The dining table and chairs sit on the opposite wall beside a window. Lighting in both lounge and kitchen are by ceiling fittings and all units are finished in white door fronts and light oak side panelling. Central heating radiators are dotted about both lounge and kitchen.

A central door takes you from the kitchen into a short corridor off which can be found the Biarritz’s main accommodation.

Immediately on the left is the door to the main bathroom; a spacious area featuring a large shower cubicle with glass sliding door and thermostatically controlled shower unit. Opposite this is a pedestal hand basin and toilet. Above these are fitted storage cabinets, one of which is mirrored with a strip light above. A radiator is fitted below the semi opaque window.

Swift Biarritz - Twin Bedroom

Opposite, is the door leading into the second, twin bedded room. Once again Swift has pulled off the space trick and this room feels much larger than it really is. Twin beds are separated by a small bedside table unit attached to a wooden headboard. Cupboards are above this and wardrobe storage is at the foot of the bed with a small shelf unit adjacent. The décor is once again white walls with darker oak timber offset with attractive curtains in shades of blue and brown.

Swift Biarritz - Master Bedroom

Moving on to the last door at the end of the corridor we enter the master bedroom with its king size double bed with lift up storage beneath, padded headboard and over-bed reading lights. There are bedside cabinets as well as over-bed storage. In one corner is a vanity area with mirror and mains socket. A door leads off into the small en suite bathroom featuring a hand basin and toilet with mirror.

Verdict

For those thinking of upgrading their holiday home from entry level, Swift has produced three models in their Biarritz range well worthy of a second look. We were particularly impressed with the light and airiness of the whole home, the quality of its fixtures and fittings and the overall design which, on a 38 x 12 footprint, gives a family of four plenty of elbow room. It is both stylish and good value for money.

  1. Hate the split kitchen. Had one before and, yes, it makes the kitchen/diner look spacious, but it is a real pain to-ing and fro-ing from side to side, especially when the entrance door is between the cooker and sink/prep. area. Also hate the bland colour schemes – b.o.r.i.n.g!

  2. Really like the layout but would prefer the shower in the en suite bathroom and the washroom for visitors..

  3. Don’t think the fixed cupboard between the single beds is a good idea. I like the fact that I can move my cupboard to the side of the room and place single beds together to make a double, when necessary.

    1. That’s a great point Sharon, moving the beds around does provide better flexibility for you and your family.
