The new model from ABI represents an overhaul of their popular Focus model – whilst retaining its classic features.
Light is the key: There are plenty of windows – six in the lounge area alone – with the option of French windows to boot! Talking of which, energy-efficient lighting is standard – a clever move in these eco-conscious times.
In terms of options, ‘extra’ insulation is a choice you might want to make to help reduce your gas bill – assuming you are not heading for sunnier climes! Even double glazing is an option, as is a bathroom extractor, TV points in bedrooms, and a 5″ pre-galvanised chassis.
The largest model, at 38ft by 12ft, has three bedrooms; what’s more, it also has a bed settee in the lounge, so it can sleep up to eight. Little wonder, then, that ABI have provided wrap-around seating for all these people.
There are also two smaller versions at 32ft by 12ft and 35ft by 12ft, each with two bedrooms.
Across the way from the seating arrangement is the smart gas fire in an unusual surround, incorporating a shaped mirror, glass shelves and a TV unit. Adjacent is the dining area with, as elsewhere, a lovely corsico chestnut woodgrain effect. In the kitchen area, beige tile-effect flooring blends in beautifully.
In the standard version of the Focus, there is an extractor fan and integrated fridge freezer. There is plumbing for a washer and dishwasher and a shelf for a microwave is set up, though the microwave itself is optional. Overall, this kitchen is very attractive and usable, half-hidden from the lounge area, but with a gap between wall and floor cupboards, which allows the cook to communicate with the diners!
Naturally, most of the rest of the space is taken up with the bed area, the three bedrooms being along a short corridor. The double at the end has plenty of cupboard and cabinet storage and wardrobe space. (In the other two models of this range, there is a king-sized bed)
Similar over-bed lights to those in the much more expensive St James are fitted as standard.
Between the wardrobes is a dressing area with a stool and large mirror. Even in the three-bedroomed model, space is made for an ensuite toilet and basin, fairly essential if there were eight occupants, and the shower room is spacious.
Main features:
- Sleeps up to eight
- Open plan kitchen and lounge
- Extractor fan and integrated fridge-freezer
- En-suite to main bedroom
Verdict
This model is well-designed to accommodate a number of people with ease and has some attractive features. And with the possibility of tailor-making it with the options, you might want to put together your own bespoke version!
