Following its rebirth as a division of Willerby Holiday Homes, BK Bluebird has launched an all-new two model Grosvenor range for 2010. Both models – the three bedroom 38ft x 12ft, and the two bedroom 37ft x 12ft – reviewed here – are built to EN 1647 and come with a coated black chassis, double glazing and gas central heating as standard. We would recommend however, that anyone considering siting the home on a park near the sea where the atmosphere can be salt ladened should seriously think about opting for the pre-galvanised chassis. The standard cladding is sandstone coloured aluminium but there is an option of environmental green cladding. Whichever cladding is chosen the home comes with a graphite pantile roof.
One of the things we most liked about the home was that when you enter through the front door you come into a small hallway rather than immediately into the living area. Immediately opposite the front door is a large double cupboard and on the left a door into the daytime living area whilst on the right is the door leading to the shower room, second bedroom, and main bedroom and its en suite washroom.
As you enter the lounge the dining area is in front of you with the lounge area beyond and the kitchen to the right. The dining furniture comprises and oak table and four chairs whilst the lounge has an L shaped sofa running along the home’s rear wall to the U shaped kitchen. At night the sofa converts into a bed resulting in the Grosvenor being able to sleep six. Lighting in the lounge and dining areas is via two very attractive five lamp pendants suspended from the vaulted ceiling – a feature which runs throughout the home.
The kitchen equipment includes an integrated larder fridge/freezer, a gas cooker with hob and grill set into the corner at 45 degrees, with an extractor above the hob. There’s plenty of working top space and storage in the base and wall cupboards. Above the work top next to the fridge/freezer, is a compartment for an optional microwave, and above that a small wine rack at ceiling height.
The shower room has a large shower compartment the full depth of the room with a very attractive vanity unit next to it on which has been mounted a large circular washbasin, whilst the low level toilet has been fitted at 45 degrees on the opposite corner of the room to the shower. The one disappointment is the lack of storage for toiletries.
Across the hallway from the shower room is the second bedroom which has two divan beds with a bedside cabinet between them and wall cupboards separated by a shelf, above the headboards. Opposite the foot of the bed on the outside wall is a small wardrobe.
The main bedroom has a kingsize double bed, again with shelves and wall cupboards above the headboard, and a large four door wardrobe opposite the foot of the bed. On the wall adjacent to the wardrobe is a TV point. In the right-hand corner of the bedroom as you enter, is an en suite washroom – not very big but with everything you need in such a room.
Main features
- UPVC double glazing
- Gas central heating
- Integrated larder fridge/freezer
- En suite washroom to main bedroom

Verdict
Having killed off BK Bluebird when the recent recession began to bite, Willerby quickly realised that there was still a market for BK holiday homes and so it was reborn as a division of the main company. The Grosvenor range is one of the first result of the rebirth and in our opinion does represent good value for money. In fact, about our only reservation is that we would opt for the galvanised chassis, providing that doing so wouldn’t break the bank, since the chassis is what the home sits on and a galvanised chassis will always outlast a painted one.
