The Swift Burgundy is the Swift group’s entry level holiday home. It is a 32ft x 12ft single unit two bedroom home, with woodgrain textured aluminium cladding built on the company’s Zinphos painted chassis which carries a three year warranty. A galvanised chassis with a 10 year warranty is one of the home’s optional extras together with double glazing and gas central heating.
The entrance to the home leads directly into lounge/dining/kitchen areas – all to the left as you enter. On the right are two floor-to-ceiling cupboards, in one of which the boiler has been fitted, whilst a low wall on the left separates the dining area from the doorway. The seating in the dining area is a permanent L-shaped bench running along the low wall and down the exterior wall of the home. The dining table itself is an unusual shape being partly rectangular but with one long side and an end cut at an angle. We are not sure how convenient this would be when sitting at the table. In addition to the permanent seating, two stools are also standard here.
Opposite the dining area is the U-shaped kitchen with the units being in the home’s Verona light oak. Equipment includes a gas hob with electronic ignition and a glass fronted stainless steel oven and grill. On the wall behind the hob is a short splashback but no extractor. Nor are the walls tiled. There are plenty of wall cupboards and base units plus dedicated housings for an optional microwave and fridge. Bearing in mind that this is an entry level holiday home we felt that the kitchen was more than adequate.
The Swift Burgundy has an open plan lounge with bench seats running down the back wall and across the front wall below the bay window to a corner unit. This is designed to take a TV and audio system. There is storage below the seats and a pull out bed mechanism to increase the home’s sleeping accommodation from four to six. On the wall adjacent to the unit for the TV is a very attractive mantelpiece and the home’s gas fire. Above the mantelpiece is a large mirror in a Verona light oak frame.
The bay window plus a window unit in each of the front and rear walls of the home provide plenty of light during the day, but night time lighting comprises one light in the vaulted ceiling, perhaps making it necessary to have some freestanding supplementary lights.
Going into the Swift Burgundy hallway from the kitchen, the first door on the right is the shower room. The shower cubicle runs the full depth of the room, has a sliding door, and is fitted with a thermostatically controlled mixer shower. Opposite the shower is the low level toilet suite and next to it, a ceramic pedestal washbasin. Above the toilet cistern is a toiletry cupboard and next to it – above the washbasin – is a shelf and a mirror. As in the case of the kitchen, we felt that for an entry level holiday home, the shower room was well appointed – in fact better than some more expensive homes.
Across the hallway from the shower room is the second bedroom. Although fairly small it is large enough for two divan beds with space for an open bedside cabinet between them. Interestingly, if only one bed is required the other can be stored beneath it to give increased space. Spanning the full width of the room on the wall behind the beds is a timber headboard, again in Verona Light oak. At high level above the headboard is a unit comprising two good size wall cupboards separated by a shelf, whilst at the foot of the bed on the outside wall is a wardrobe. Next to the wardrobe is a shelf and mirror.
At the end of the home is the main bedroom. This is L shaped as two of the shower room walls encroach into the room. However, this has enabled the designers to fill the rest of the space here with a large capacity double door built-in floor to ceiling wardrobe. A double bed is standard; like the twin beds it has a metal frame, beech slats and a domestic grade sprung mattress and as in the other bedroom, the headboard is Verona light oak. Above the headboard are two wall cupboards separated by a shelf. Either side of the bed is a suspended open bedside cabinet each with a switched 13 amp socket on the wall above it.
In the corner of the wall facing the foot of the bed is a small dressing table unit comprising a shelf with a small drawer below it, a mirror above it and a stool. There is also a two gang 13 amp switched socket on the wall above the shelf.
Conventional ceiling lights are used throughout the home, and the shower room and bedrooms can be fitted with electric plinth heaters if required. Other options include a galvanised chassis, uPVC double glazing and full central heating. The use of light oak timber coupled with the fact that the home has vaulted ceilings throughout helps create a light and airy feel to it – something which we believe is important in any holiday home.
Considering that the Swift Burgundy is an entry level holiday home we consider it represents very good value for money. And providing it is looked after we can see no reason why it shouldn’t provide its owner with many years of happy holidays.

Please explain optional extra for a galvanized chassis. In my experience all caravan chassis have been galvanized, in fact I would have thought compulsary by law.
