POLL NOW CLOSED – Thanks to everyone who voted
Many static caravanners have owned their holiday caravan for a good number of years by which time they might want to add their own design touches.
We’ve already brought you some expert interior design advice and tips to spruce up your static caravan or lodge, as well as information on modernising your unit.
In this month’s community poll, we’d like to know if you’ve made any upgrades to your static caravan or lodge.
Maybe you’ve added a verandah or decking, or you’ve had your seating reupholstered, or you’ve simply upgraded the TV or bought some new bedding sets.
Simply vote by selecting one of the options below. And if you have made any upgrades – big or small – we’d love to hear about them by sharing in the comments box.
We’ll report back the results in March.
I have installed an automatic drain down system as recommended by yourselves. I can do the job in minutes and in the winter months am confident that even after a snap cold spell I will have no problems when I next visit.
Good work. Great to hear it’s working well for you.
We have put in all new matching kitchen items, painted the large bedroom
New curtains throughout , new bedroom carpets ( lounge this year)
Decorated bathroom
All above done.
Installed British Gas Hive to control my caravan heating, lamps
and CCTV remotely, via 4G solution.
Unable to vote for more than one category, but have had new flooring, new decking, new fire and hob, new small kitchen appliances. We have also had, new bedding, light shades and cushion covers.
Sounds great Sheila. I’ve amended the poll so you can vote for five things if you want to try again.
New curtains, flooring, took out static seating installed freestanding settees,New beds and bedding, added built in storage areas, New patio and furniture replaced tungsten lighting for LED. Replaced sink and tap. Now more practical and energy efficient.
Sounds fantastic
Fitted vertical blinds throughout my Portland Lodge
We’ve replaced the old fashioned nets with vertical blinds.
I have fitted automatic draindown system plus trace heating system to stop any pipes from freezing(works a treat).
Changing the floor covering and upholstery to a plain, light colour has increased the feeling of light and space greatly. Anything to do with leisure is always overpriced so I think carefully before I make improvements. Would I get several thousand pounds worth of use from a veranda? Probably not. I’d pay for a dishwasher though.

What sort of paint is best to use to cover the original wall covering? I have changed soft furnishing but have been wary of painting the walls as the paper is textured
Hi Paula, it would be best to contact your caravan manufacturer for their advice or speak to your park operator.
