The Pathfinder Keeper’s Lodge was launched in September and if you are like us, then you’ll be wowed. Easily the most unique holiday lodge we’ve seen this year!
A double glazed entrance door leads into the hall which has an oak floor. To the right is a utility cupboard for the condensing washing machine/tumble dryer and the Baxi condensing combination boiler. To the left are a useful lockable storage cupboard and a desk with an iPod docking station.
There are panoramic windows in the open plan living area, with sliding doors on the front aspect. The feature of the room is the Baronial style fire place with an electric wood burning stove and flagstone hearth set against a wood panelled wall. Tartan pelmets and cushions complement the eclectic mix of sofas and a Snuggler chair; the stag’s heads, the trophies, on the fireplace add to the distinctive ambience.
The oak floor from the hall continues into the kitchen, but the decor is slightly more modern with off-white shaker style cupboards and contrasting country style door knobs – just the place to rustle up a warming game casserole which could be eaten at the breakfast bar or at the chunky oak dining table. There’s also an integral wine cooler, a nice feature in what is a very well equipped lodge.
The bathroom has an impressive freestanding roll top bath, just the thing to fall into after a day out with the beaters, plus a separate shower cubicle for every day use. The vinyl floor is practical, but the oak theme is present in the form of a cupboard, which helps to tie everything toegther.
The second bedroom sleeps four in bunk beds, and there’s no skimping with the bed sizes or storage space as there are two wardrobes and a trunk; the design is traditional but with modern functionality.
The master bedroom is spacious with a five foot traditional metal frame bed and the use of oak furniture featuring highly for the bedside tables, dressing table and in the dressing area which does feature open plan shelves. Unsurprisingly, there is a luxurious en-suite shower room.
A worthy mention is the lodge’s green credential as it is fitted with “K” glass in all windows, lighting is designed for maximum light with minimum energy use, low energy spot lights or bulbs are used wherever possible, the boiler is A rated and a high insulation level is standard. Fridges, freezers, washing machines and dishwashers are A rated for energy efficiency and water conservation.
Verdict
Game on! The Keeper’s Lodge would make a super holiday lodge for the gamekeeper! Fully double glazed and with solid grooved oak interior doors, it feels warm and cosy, with an air of opulence, a perfect place for the gun dogs to lie around the fire. It’s modern living in traditional surrounds that ideally needs a rural setting to complement the interior design.
It’s the real McCoy.
