Kitchen cupboard space could well be at a premium in your static caravan or holiday lodge and many people don’t want to be spending precious holiday time tethered to the kitchen sink cleaning dishes!
That’s where a tabletop dishwasher could be the answer to the hassle of cleaning your plates, cups and cutlery when you’d rather be relaxing. Some even look quite funky on the kitchen worktop.
How do tabletop dishwashers work?
Unlike your dishwasher at home, they often don’t have to be plumbed in. Instead they have an inbuilt water tank that you can easily fill then a hose will drain the dirty water out of the dishwasher into the sink. Or you can attach a water inlet hose to your sink tap. Either way you’re likely to have to stand your table top diswasher close to your kitchen sink for the waste water hose to drain.
Similar to standard dishwashers the tabletop version heats up the water to wash your dirty tableware.
There are also some tabletop dishwashers which can be plumbed in and have a similar range of features and programmes for washing and rinsing your dirty dishes as their larger counterparts.
Despite their smaller size, many tabletop dishwashers have a surprisingly large capacity for plates, cups, bowls, glasses and cutlery for three to four people. Larger pots and pans will probably need a scrub in the sink though or will need to be added separately.
Why consider a tabletop dishwasher?
- Space-saving: A full-sized dishwasher might be out of the question. Tabletop dishwashers are compact and designed to fit snugly on your countertop or in a cupboard, making them great for small static caravan kitchens.
- Ease of use: Many models are easy to set up, needing to plug in, add water and detergent or cleaning tablets and then guide the waste water hose into your kitchen sink.
- Energy efficiency: These mini dishwashers are not only space-savers but also energy-savers. With their smaller size comes a reduced water and energy usage compared to full-sized dishwashers, making them an eco-friendly choice.
- Portability: Unlike a built-in dishwasher, a tabletop model can be moved around your kitchen or even into a utility room or cupboard.
- Modern looks: Today’s tabletop dishwashers aren’t just functional—they’re stylish too. Many models come in sleek designs and modern colors, adding a touch of sophistication to your caravan’s kitchen.

A tabletop dishwasher could be the perfect addition to your static caravan or lodge, giving you more time to enjoy your holiday. Would you consider buying one, or do you already have one? We’d love to hear what you make of these compact handy dishwashers. Please comment in the box below.
I have had a countertop dishwasher plumbed in in my kitchen for years, and would thoroughly recommend them.Big enough for 2 people and you don’t have to bend down to load and unload. Mine have been just as efficient as a larger machine, and you can put small pans or tins in if you move the cutlery holder around.
