We were delighted to be finalists at the 2024 British Insurance Awards with our underwriter RSA for our work helping holiday parks protect their customers from flood and storm events.
RSA and Leisuredays were shortlisted in the Risk and Resilience category at the prestigious industry awards, which was held at the Royal Albert Hall London.
Over the years Leisuredays, RSA and a dedicated flood consultant have been involved in planning and implementing many flood and storm measures on holiday parks so customers can continue to have flood and storm damage insurance cover for their caravans and lodges at an affordable premium.
Many holiday caravan parks are in seaside, riverside, lake or lochside locations, which can be at a higher risk of flooding.
Flood mitigation measures which have been put in place have included a 170m long glazed wave wall to protect seaward-facing caravans from being damaged by tidal surges, plus specially designed storm shutters, as well as raising caravan bases and building mounds of earth to create “bunds” to prevent river water from flooding onto parks.
Chris Nettleton, Director of Leisuredays, (pictured bottom centre below) attended the awards bash in July, alongside some of the big names in the insurance industry.
“Unfortunately we didn’t win the award but were up against some of the UK’s largest insurance companies, so it’s a massive achievement to be recognised and see our name on the big screen,” he said. “Without our help and the work of parks to reduce the risk of damage from the growing number of storms in the UK, customers on several caravan parks would likely have been left without insurance cover for flooding or storm damage.”
