Water heater manufacturer Morco has issued a product recall safety warning to holiday caravan owners. The notice warns owners NOT to use the Morco Primo 6 (MP6), Primo 11 (MP11, EUp6 and EUP11 water heaters immediately and to isolate the gas supply to the appliance.
Morco says they have discovered that there is a risk of a gas leak in the open flued gas water heaters which could lead to a fire.
The gas can be isolated by turning the gas control valve to off under the water heater.
“We understand that customers may be frustrated by the timing of this Safety Notice Not to Use the affected water heaters,” said Morco’s website. “We, and the experts involved, have worked tirelessly to try to avoid this situation, but unfortunately that has not been possible. We sincerely apologise to our customers for the inconvenience this causes, but your safety is our absolute priority, and issuing the Safety Notice not to use the affected water heaters is the action we must take.”
These products were sold between 2018 and 2023 and were typically installed in static caravan holiday homes. To find out which Morco water heater you might have they have issued this guide.
If you have one of these gas water heaters installed (including those that have had the safety upgrade), Morco urges owners to contact them immediately so they can discuss the next steps.
