The Swift Group have been one of the leading manufacturers of touring caravans in the UK for many years. Their experience of designing and building holiday homes, however, only goes back a few years and yet in that time they have won a reputation for building holiday homes which combine quality with competitive pricing – as witnessed by their latest 38ft x 12ft two bedroom Chamonix.
Externally, the Chamonix has a fully galvanised chassis, textured sandstone coloured aluminium cladding, a pitched steel pantile roof, uPVC double glazing, GRP barge boards and window canopies. On entering the home, the dining area with a table and four chairs is immediately on the left with the U shaped kitchen opposite, facing the doorway.
The kitchen is one of the best features of the home having a stainless steel LPG oven with electronic ignition, a gas hob, also with electronic ignition, and a stainless steel re-circulating cooker hood. There’s plenty of working surfaces and plenty of storage. A Velux rooflight has been fitted in the ceiling and double door fridge/freezer and gas central heating and hot water are also included in the standard specification.
The lounge is rectangular in shape and is separated from the kitchen by a low wall. Included in the specification is an L shaped sofa, two armchairs, a corner wall unit, standard lamp, and a coffee table. On the home’s front wall is a flame-effect electric fire with provision for a flat screen TV on the wall above it. As the TV is not included as standard, a large mirror has been fitted on the wall above the fireplace.
From the kitchen, a door leads into a corridor and the night time accommodation. Immediately on the right is the shower room. This has a large shower cubicle taking up the full depth of the room, plus a large circular washbasin sitting on top of a vanity unit. There’s also a low level toilet, whilst on the wall above the washbasin is a mirror with internal lights.
Opposite the shower is the Chamonix’s second bedroom which is just large enough to take two divan beds with a small bedside cabinet between them. There is also a small wardrobe at the end of one of the beds, and two cupboards and shelves on the wall above the headboards.
The main bedroom has a king-size double bed with lift up storage, and two bedside cabinets, plus a superb built-in unit comprising two mirror door wardrobes, drawers and a dressing table. Adjacent to the bed is a small en suite just large enough to take a low level toilet, plus a washbasin and vanity unit.

Although Swift has only been manufacturing holiday homes for a relatively short time, its designers have been quick to learn what the buyers want, whilst the size of the company has meant that it can negotiate the best prices for the materials and equipment. The result is a home which from some other manufacturers would almost certainly cost considerably more.
