Holiday caravanners simply love staying at their park as much as possible and in some cases it looks like park owners are responding to this demand with longer opening times.
With most parks re-opening we wanted to know how long you’d had to wait for your park to re-open, if at all.
So last month we asked owners how long their holiday park was closed for in winter. And after more than 450 votes and 18 comments winter opening certainly got you talking!
Winter holiday park opening time results
Almost a third of our respondents said their holiday park remained open for 10 months of the year – perfect for months of relaxing in their static caravan or lodge.
Just over one fifth of owners said their park was closed for just one month over winter, allowing people to get the most out of their holiday caravan.
And 13 percent of voters told us their holiday park didn’t close at all during the winter months.
Twelve percent of voters said their park was closed for three months and some holidaymakers told us that they wished they could spend more time at their park in the winter months.
Only nine percent of voters said their park was closed for less than a month, and just eight percent said their park was closed for more than four whole months!
Your park opening comments
Vicky S said it was lovely waking up in a toasty warm caravan on a cold, crisp winter morning and to have the option of staying in her holiday home for Christmas and, or New Year.
“Less people use the park in the winter months so it is quieter,” she said.
Michael Saunders said he loved spending time over the winter period on-site.
“All is peaceful and the environment has changed down a gear for some extra rest and relaxation,” he said. “Snow and winter sun in the Yorkshire Dales can be so spectacular.”
Toni Wade has also loved getting away through the winter.
“It’s so interesting to be able to see the area throughout all the seasons, and there is something very exhilarating to being by the coast and sea during the winter,” she said. “We draw the curtains and our van is so cosy and havent found it too cold at all.”
Steve Wilson told us they’ve really enjoyed using their holiday caravan in January and February.
“All wrapped up and peaceful walks along the beaches – Also no crazy traffic jams!”
Gary Davis said he would love to be able to use his caravan for some of the winter and Mags McFarlane said it would be great to spend Christmas in the caravan if the park was open.
“But with winterising all the soft furnishings and draining down it would be too much hassle just for a few days, and as our site is on a beautiful small island on the Clyde coast the ferries can be disrupted by bad weather and it can get pretty wet and wild November to March. Happy campers all other months.”
Thanks to everyone who voted and commented. We hope you have a great 2022 season in your holiday caravans.
